May 2012
The UA Imaging Portal is currently being beta tested. We are presenting the site to small groups of interested users, and considering the user's feedback. We are also working with colleagues to add data to the portal so that we will have a broad range of imaging information on the site when we are ready to go live. We hope to be able to do a a summer 2012 debut.
We want this portal to become the authoritative campus source of information about people (expertise), facilities, and equipment (primary and support) that create bitmapped images. For now, we are limiting the site to things that magnify an object to larger than it's actual size.
The UA Imaging Portal is a collaboration of many people (faculty and facility managers), from several Departments and Colleges across campus. Information Technology support has come from Arizona Research Labs Biocomputing Facility. Financial support has come from the UA Office of the VP for Research, as well as the SWEHSC and the AZCC.
Future plans would include taking the model of the UA Imaging Portal and creating similar resources for other clusters of similar types of instruments/services. Stay tuned.
